Sally Beauty recently shared a video to TikTok, which has since been removed. In footage captured by The Shade RoomA young African American woman is promoting a brand’s product.
The product is called Cold Vapor Styler Flat-iron, and it seems to use vapor instead of heat to straighten the hair.
“It transforms water into cold vapor for you to use to straighten or curl your hair, which equals less passes, which equals less damage,”She explains.
The woman then tells viewers that her hair is “really coarse,” explaining that she has textured, 4C hair. The woman then uses the product to show how it works on her own hair.
By the end, the woman praises Sally Beauty’s innovation.

But social media users disagreed and shared their criticisms of the brand.

Sally Beauty is yet to make a public response to the recent backlash. However, that isn’t stopping the brand from receiving continued backlash under their most recent post on Instagram. Ironically, it is a post that highlights a number of Black beauty founders.
