The style of clothing seen on Dinotopia was inspired by what?
One day, when I was just getting started on Dinotopia and I had just begun to create the story, I received a phonecall from an artist friend living in New York City. He told me that a big costume rental company was selling off its overstock of worn-out rental costumes, and I’d better get my butt down there now.
They were getting rid stuff from theater productions including capes and doublets. Also gowns and robes. A Dickens jacket was also available, which was perfect for Arthur Denison, my 19th century protagonist. I came home with a hodgepodge of old styles— baggy pants, vests, and all sorts of glorious fabrics.
I also bought a large amount of clothing from Lena Dun. MorescaCostumes for Renaissance fairs are made.
